Such is Life

Love, security that’s all she ever wanted…like any other girl but unfortunately Maya got none unlike others around her. Ofcourse she fell in love, broke up, cried, had flings with older men, married men too..all this & much more just for the search of that perfect someone she never got. A model by profession, she always had the most good-looking men wooing her. She assumed they loved her but it was just lust. After few making-out sessions…all was forgotten blatantly.
At 38 she had everything that anyone would kill for. A great career, financial stability,great body, designer clothes, hot men around her…but is this all that she ever wanted.Na all she wanted was love that she still craved for like an 18 year old insecured woman & all that she got was no strings attached relationships if she could call them ‘relationships’ that is. The last time she felt close to someone was around 5 years back. Abhimanyu & Maya hit it off well right from day one. Romance was in the air. She really loved him & was sure that he loved her too but like most men was scared of commitment. Then everything fell apart as both of them were involved in the relationship for completely different reasons. One for love & the other for lets try if this work . It ended on a very bad note with Maya going for an abortion as Abhimanyu had no intentions of getting married to her at that time nor Maya was strong enough to have a child outside wed-lock.
But could she blame him. Abhimanyu was clear right from day one that lets just go with the flow & like always he directed the flow to suit his convenience. After years Abhimanyu had called her to meet. She couldn’t stop thinking about all those wonderful time they had spent together. Though they hardly met then due to work commitments. He always made sure he made up for it. She had no reasons to complain. Of all the men she ever dated or liked Abhimanyu was different, very special & close to her heart. She always thought that they’ll eventually get married but only if we could direct our lives.
And now after years she was going to meet Abhimanyu again. Little skeptical though she still wanted to meet him.As she was locking her door her phone rang. Hello…Oh hi Abhimanyu…you’ve reached?…Give me 15 minutes & I’ll be there. When Maya reached their once-upon a time hang-out, she saw Abhimanyu waiting outside patiently. I am so sorry to keep you waiting but you know what….before she could complete the sentence, Abhimanyu kissed her cheek. He put his arms around her slim waist & walked her in the lounge.Too stunned to say anything Maya just smiled.
While placing orders for their drinks Abhimanyu held Maya’s hand. How you’ve been luv?. Its been years. You still look so beautiful & radiant like always.Thanks Abhimanyu & she pulled her hand back. As their drink came Maya tried her best to fake the smile she was used to on the ramp. So what made you call me yesterday after so many years. Finally Maya asked him. Just generally luv. First lets have a drink. Then I’ll tell you. That’s all he said.
So hows work. Where you working these days? asked Maya. I have opened a restaurant in Malaysia. I keep coming down to India every 6 months to meet my mom & you know how much I love India. What are you upto these days? I know you’ve become very famous. You are there in almost in all fashion magazines babe.” “ Stop flattering me Abhimanyu. I am happy with my work and life.. Life is just going on & I am just going with the flow you know. Abhimanyu’s expressions changed as she said this. He knew she was being sarcastic but he just smiled. Come let’s dance Maya. No. Come please & he pulled her close to him. Within minutes she was enjoying the dance with him like she always did. Suddenly Abhimanyu stopped dancing & went down on his knees. I know I have been stupid in the past & you have every right to be angry. But can you please forget everything & forgive me for all that I have done. I’ve always loved you. I still do Maya. Please marry me luv.
As he said these words Maya was almost in tears. She tried her best to fake her famous smile but failed miserably & cried. After some time she gathered herself again & made Abhimanyu stand. Please Abhimanyu don’t do this with me. I am tired & don’t have the strength to go through this again. Let’s just forget all this please. No Maya, I mean it. It was my fault. But I love you Maya. You know I was mad then. You really mean the world to me luv.Even then we always knew that we want spend our life together but I was just not ready then & was too imatured. Saying these lines Abhimanyu went down on his knees again & pulled out a ring from his pocket. Will you marry me Maya. Maya looked at the ring. It was the same platinum ring that he had given her years back which she had returned when they had parted ways. Say Maya will you please marry me.
Maya couldn’t stop smiling now. Yes Abhimanyu I will. The spectators to this eventful night started clapping & Abhimanyu placed a kiss on her lips. Life happens to you when you least expect it to. Thanks Abhi I was always waiting for this day. Me too luv & they made their way to their new life, such is life…..simply beautiful!!!!!
